Shalom Homes is a Supported Living accommodation provider for young persons aged 16-18years leaving care. We are looking to recruit an experienced young people support worker who will engage with the young people in meeting the support needs and preferences in a way that respects them and promotes their independence in everyday living skills.We are looking for someone that is:Able to work under pressure and develop great relationships.Motivated and committed with a calm approach.Able to work on your own and is also a team player.You must be a positive role model to the young people.Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential.you will need to have authority, confidence and experience to react calmly in stressful situations and deal with difficult and challenging behaviours when necessary.Able to have flexible work approach and to work shifts and to undertake duties in the evenings, weekends and sleep ins or wake nights as when required.Support provided by support workers will include:Safeguarding of young people within the service whilst adhering to current policies and proceduresThe support of a young Persons who have been placed on emergency, duties to Include: 24/7 support to vulnerable young person within a shared unit.Assisting the young persons social worker in the delivery of service. Supporting the young Persons to manage the risks in their life.Supporting the young person to access services and facilities in the community.To give emotional Support as and when needed by the young person. of Challenging Behaviour, Youth offending and Mental Health .To accurately record, create maintain and update manual and electronic records in respect of the young person.Helping the young people with key life Skills coaching such as paying bills, cleaning, cooking, shopping and budgeting, time management etc.To maintain and observe strict confidentiality in respect of the young people, client and company.Providing support, advice and encouragement on personal health matters. Monitoring and reviewing care and support with the young persons inclusion.Support with appointments and reminders.Support to liaise with professionals and other agencies on behalf of the young people, including Border control, immigration, youth justice, mental health services, housing, education and police amongst others. Only in the event that is required outside normal working hours and the manager isn't available.Conduct welcome and induction for service users preparation of reports informing young persons of support groups and adhere to Shalom Homes Policies and procedure.Significantly improve the quality of numerous young peoples lives by implementing quality care packagesYou must have a current DBS dated 1 year and preferably subscribe to the DBS update services. DBS must be in line with previous similar position.
