Job description

Are you looking for a career where you can positively impact the lives of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities? Or perhaps you are ready for your next role in education. This Young Person Support Worker position starts as soon as you are available, and you don't need to have qualifications to apply - induction and training will be provided.

Many Pupil Referral Units, Alternative Provisions and Special Schools are seeking cover for both daily and long-term assignments. If you feel passionately about transforming the lives of young people and are a flexible and creative thinker who can maximise pupil engagement, this could be the perfect role for you.

The role

  • The focus of a Young Person Support Worker is to encourage young people to access education, as they will often be very disengaged from school-life.
  • This would be an amazing opportunity for somebody who wants to make a difference to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, and in some cases have suffered major trauma.

The school

  • You will offer guidance and support both in the classroom, in the community and liaise closely with parents / carers to ensure a joined-up approach is implemented across their learning journey
  • The working hours are 8:30am - 3:30pm Monday to Friday. This is a term-time only role.
  • There are opportunities for the role to become a permanent position after a qualifying period, so anyone looking for a long-term career is encouraged to apply.

Requirements

To be considered as a Young Person Support Worker, you will:

  • Be resilient and focused on the best interests of the pupils that you support
  • Be able to demonstrate empathy and understanding, be non-judgemental and open-minded
  • Have a passion to change young people's lives for the better
  • Understand Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties that children and young people can face today
  • Previous experience is not essential, and transferrable skills can be from your personal and professional life.

All applicants will need to apply for a DBS and be fully reference checked prior to appointment. We can support with this.

If you like the sound of the Young Person Support Worker position and are someone who can enthuse, motivate and engage students, this could be the challenge for you.

Apply today via this website.
