Young Person Support Worker
Fantastic opportunity for a compassionate individual who wants to support pupils through the vital stages of education.
We are looking for a Childrens / Young Person Support Worker to work in a Special Needs school in Manchester.
Supporting children and young people from age 2 - 18 in a multi-sensory environment, the school boasts a range of state of the art facilities including multisensory rooms, prayer room, sensory gardens, forest school, music therapy suites, cookery room and much, much more.
This is a temporary to permanent opportunity, giving you the chance to understand how the school operates before you decide if it’s the best option for you. After a qualifying period, the role will turn permanent. Hours of work are 8.30am to 3.30pm or 4pm, term time only and on a Monday to Friday basis. Part time hours are available if required.
Requirements:
It is desirable that you have experience working with children and young people, but this is not essential as full training will be provided. Perhaps you have your own children and want to use your skills to support others.
Up-to-date Safeguarding training is imperative and you will be required to undertake a free course prior to starting your new role if you have not completed a Safeguarding course in the last 12 months.
The role:
- Attend to the pupils' personal needs as required
- Supervise and support pupils to access learning in a way that suits them
- Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Support Plans
- Provide feedback to pupils and parents / carers in relation to progress and achievement
- Support the class teacher to ensure a fun, exciting and enriched learning journey for all students.
To be eligible for this role, you must:
- Hold the Right to Work in the UK – we do not offer sponsorship so please do not apply if you do not hold existing UK work eligibility.
- Possess an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application.
- Provide two professional child related references.
