Job Introduction

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Turning Point’s Substance Use and Mental Health Team which delivers treatment across the whole of Leicester City, Leicestershire and Rutland. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Senior Assistant Psychologist interested in working with young people and young adults with co-existing substance use and mental health difficulties.

Role Responsibility

The role of the YP/YA Senior Assistant Psychologist is to support the assessment and delivery of interventions to young people and young adults with co-existing substance use and mental health needs under supervision of the Practitioner Psychologist. The post holder will assist in clinically related administration, deliver psychological interventions, administer questionnaires or standardised psychometric tests, conduct audits, collect data and statistics, and contribute to research projects and training.

The Ideal Candidate

You will need at least a 2:1 degree in psychology and eligibility for graduate membership with the British Psychological Society. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an understanding of the needs and difficulties of young people and young adults with mental health and substance misuse difficulties. You will have experiences of delivering psychosocial interventions (individually or in groups) and demonstrate an understanding of research and service evaluation processes. The focus of the role will be on providing support to under 18s and young adults across City, County and Rutland locations working closely with partnership agencies to develop referral pathways/partnership links.

A driving licence and car access is desirable but flexibility in travel across the county is essential.
