Yard Operative

We are currently recruiting for a Yard Operative (Manufacturing) to come and join our team at our Chailey site.
- Location: 10 to 15 minute drive from Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath and Lewes
- Setter (manual labouring Yard operative)
- Salary: £24,000 - £28,000 (Dependant on Production Bonus).
- Full Time - 39 hours (with 14:30 finish on Friday).
- Overtime available.
- No experience needed, this is a physically demanding job, therefore you must be hard- working and have a positive attitude.
- Having access to a vehicle would be essential due to the factory’s location.

Due to high demand for our products, Ibstock Chailey are recruiting candidates to join the sorting team as yard operatives. The roles are fundamental in the production of our highly acclaimed products.
The successful candidates will be a hard-working individuals who are prepared to work within a team. The job does not require any experience in the industry as full training will be given. The working week finishes at 14:30 on Friday. However, over the course of the year there are numerous Saturday morning shifts available.
- Constructing brick firing ‘clamps’ (a very large and carefully selected stack of bricks)
- Manually creating the base layers of bricks, prior to being finished using specialist equipment
- Hand sorting fired bricks into packs
- Adhering to health & safety, quality and environmental systems
- Creating and maintaining the highest standards of 5S’s housekeeping and environmental management
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Excellent timekeeping, attendance and flexibility
- Self-motivated
- Numerate & literate.
- Team working attitude.
- Ability to also work alone.
- Excellent communication skills.
- High degree of Health & Safety awareness.
- Ability to work as part of a team or on your own.
- Ability to learn to operate key manufacturing and mobile plant.
- Willingness to undergo further training and development.
- Previous labour intensive role
- Driving License
