We are defined by our richness of personality, diversity of background and lifestyle and are now looking for a Assistant Restaurant GM for our Ground Floor Outlets who will embody our ‘Anything but Standard’ ethos.
Your Role
As our AGM / Assistant Restaurant GM, you will lead and manage our exceptional ground floor team to provide an extensive food and drink service in this busy, high-volume destination. Working closely with our Ground Floor GM and Restaurant Managers, your role is to oversee and manage our Isla restaurant, Double Standard bar, and The Library Lounge teams to ensure service runs smoothly. As well as coaching and developing your team to make sure they receive the correct training and support in their roles.
Your exceptional knowledge of food and drink will create an environment that not only delights guests, but also excites and surprises them to create the ultimate dining experience that is ‘anything but Standard’! You will of course be passionate about service and have an exceptional working knowledge of restaurant operations and order of service alongside a deep appreciation of quality wines to enhance our guests dining experience.
Finally, and most importantly, you will be a host to our guests, adding a touch of personality and theatre to their experience that makes them feel welcome while they visit The Standard and our vibrant city. You will be highly social, upbeat and friendly, confident managing multiple tasks and guests with ease, and able to handle pressure well.
Do you have what it takes to be an AGM at The Standard
While we take every detail of design and guest experience seriously, we do not take ourselves too seriously. ‘Standard People’ are at the heart of our brand; vivid, dynamic and engaging, so you’ll intrinsically understand the unique microcosm and the context of our venues and the city you represent.
Prior experience as an AGM / Assistant Restaurant GM is essential for this role however we welcome applications from all restaurant backgrounds. You will have however an uncompromised and natural flair for service and be able to build genuine relationships with guests that enable us to pre-empt needs and foresee desires. In addition to this, you will also need….
- A proven track record in a similar AGM / Restaurant Manager with the ability to inspire and motivate a team, ideally gained in a similar ‘Lifestyle’, destination restaurant or boutique hotel sector
- Experience of working in a High volume (+300 covers a day) all day dining restaurant
- Highly motivated and pro-active; act with professionalism and positivity in all interactions
- Ability to develop and deliver effective training to maintain consistent service standards throughout your team
- Solid wine & beverage knowledge ideally to a WSET level 2
- Experience with Squirrel POS, Open table and Fourth HR
About our Ground Floor Outlets
Isla restaurant has a Modern European menu focused on ingredients, minimal intervention and small plates, with an extensive list of organic wines from all over the world. Ideal for casual dining at any time of day—from breakfast meetings to long, lounging al fresco meals—Isla also accommodates parties of most sizes with its spacious, softly lit interior and garden terrace.
Double Standard bar serves delicious hearty fare accompanied by locally brewed beers, classic and signature cocktails and slushy spritzes. Best-known for its famous burgers, DJs, and bottomless Sunday Brunch, guests can enjoy its 70s-inspired bar or sun-soaked terrace.
The Library Lounge was created to pay homage to the Camden Council Library once housed within these walls. Designed as both a cosy lounge and library, it is our hub for music and cultural programming and hosts a large collection of vintage books we’ve playfully curated into categories our guests can enjoy with coffee or cocktails.
