Job description
Yara Growth Ventures is inviting applications for a three-month internship, to explore the potential role of AI and machine learning in agriculture.
The role will centre around supporting a deep-dive into AI technologies, assessing potential applications for agriculture. The applicant will identify and screen companies, summarising findings to contribute towards the Yara Growth Ventures investment thesis. The role will also involve participation in introductory calls, identification of investment targets, supporting open investment cases, attending conferences and events, and assisting the team in managing other day to day tasks.
The ideal candidate will have an understanding of both agriculture/biology and computer science, with an underlying interest in venture capital, innovation, and start-ups. This position would suit a recent Masters/PhD/MBA graduate looking for work experience, or, a current PhD student able to take a full-time internship during their studies (e.g. BBSRC PIPS).
Your Attributes
- Masters/ PhD/ MBA level experience from a leading university, or currently enrolled and able to take a full-time internship.
- Understanding of both agriculture/ biology and computer science, with an underlying interest in venture capital, innovation, and start-ups. The candidate does not have to be an expert in either field but must have the ability to evaluate technologies and assess the commercial relevance to agriculture.
- Very strong communication and analytical skills.
- Motivated and capable to work independently.
- The role will be a combination of remote and in-person working, so the candidate should be located in Cambridge, or be willing to travel to Cambridge.
- Available to start between August and September 2023.

- Stipend of £20,500 P/R, plus home-working allowance.
