About the Role
TechSoup is hiring part-time grant writers to help craft grant proposals and project reports to a wide range of funders, including institutional funders, government entities, and corporations. This is an exciting and flexible opportunity to contribute to a dynamic international social enterprise and leader in the “tech for good” space.
Grant writers will draft coherent, organized, and compelling written content, working in collaboration with TechSoup’s fundraising team and internal program stakeholders. Primary deliverables will include initial and final review drafts of funding proposals, concept papers, budget narratives, and strategic grant project reports.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Draft and help to finalize high-quality and persuasive written content, following grant writing best practices for readability, consistency, format, and tone.
- Create draft content including project goal(s), objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation activities, timetables, and staffing descriptions.
- Develop draft charts and tables to support content as needed.
- Collaborate directly with TechSoup’s fundraising and program stakeholders to finalize proposals, reports, and related content.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in grant writing or comparable skills.
- Demonstrated ability to create well-crafted and professionally formatted written documentation.
- Ability to study and understand funder proposal requirements and alignment with TechSoup Programs, capabilities and operations .
- Ability to work independently to produce initial draft content as well as collaboratively with internal stakeholders to help finalize content.
- Possess strong organizational skills and ability to understand and follow processes.
- Ability to work positively in a fast-paced environment and to consistently meet deadlines.
- High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information.
- Comfortable with technology-based communication and project management tools, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Google docs, Asana, Slack, and Box.
- Preferred: existing knowledge of—or an affinity for—nonprofit “tech for good” issues and trends.
- An understanding of “tech for good” issues in LATAM or APAC a plus.
Contract parameters (specifics to be finalized in Independent Contractor Agreement):
- This is a remote part-time contract position (1099). TechSoup will provide a master contract agreement, with a basic State of Work, outlining contract scope and hourly rate. For each grant proposal (as proposal needs arise), there will be an correspondent exhibit that outlining maximum # of hours allowed for the proposal.
- Work schedule to be determined per contractor but is highly flexible.
- Weekly hours are expected to range from 0 hours to 20 hours, depending on fundraising pipeline and contractor availability.

The hourly range for this job is $45 an hour- $75 an hour. TechSoup determines hourly ranges based on role, level, and location. The range reflects the minimum and maximum targets for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Individual pay is determined by location and other factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, business needs, and market demands.
