Position: Grant Writer
Job status: One year contract position, extension possible
Location: Vancouver, Victoria, or remote within Coastal British Columbia
Reports to: Executive Director
Hours: 32 hours/week
Start date: July 2023

Job Responsibilities
- Research and identify government, corporate, foundation, and private funding opportunities
- Collaborate with staff to develop letters of inquiry, concept pitches, and grant proposals
- Generate high-quality proposals and applications for funding
- Maintain primary responsibility for applications, track and meet schedules
- Serve as a liaison to funding agencies and organizations
- Coordinate and follow up on the progress of submitted proposals
- Coordinate with staff to create budgets to accompany proposals
- Meet regularly with staff and participate in events and programming as needed
Qualifications
- Understanding of the funding landscape for marine social change organizations and experience fundraising and managing private and government grants/contracts
- 5+ years of experience successfully writing grants, preferably in a non-profit setting
- Excellent communications skills
- Highly organized with the ability to build systems and follow-up processes
- Ability to work collaboratively in a remote work setting
- Understanding of fisheries, marine, and coastal communities is an asset
- Experience developing and managing budgets
- Preferred candidate will have a post secondary degree
- Knowledge of relevant grant application processes, scoring criteria, and funding cycles
Software/Tools:
Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and Google Docs is required.
Work Environment:
We have offices in Vancouver and Victoria where the Grant Writer could be based, remote work along the BC coast is possible for the right candidate. This job offers a flexible schedule, however, there will be regular meetings that you will be expected to attend.
