Job Status
Summer Internship (9 weeks for 30 hours/week)
The Grant Writer will aid and support National Zakat Foundation (NZF) with grant and loan funding. Duties include writing, editing, and submitting grants, preparing reports, understanding funding needs, ensuring compliance with funding requirements are met and provide assistance to reporting manager as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research, write, prepare, and submit strong grant proposals
- Write approximately 3 - 5 grants a month
- Manage grant calendar and deadlines
- Provide timely reports to grantors
- Point of contact for existing grants and funding partnerships
- Ensure grant, donor and gift information are up to date and accurate
Qualifications/Experiences:
- Knowledge of community resources
- Appropriate computer skills; extensive experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to research and understand documentation
- Comfort with independent work while also maintaining good working relationship with teammates
- Clear criminal record check
- Experience with grant writing and/or fundraising is an asset
Eligibility
- Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
- Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**; and,
- Must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
- As per section 13.1(a) of the Articles of Agreement, youth hired for a Canada Summer Jobs-funded job cannot displace or replace existing employees or volunteers, employees that have been laid-off and are awaiting recall, employees absent due to an industrial dispute, employees on vacation, or employees on maternity or parental leave.
