We are looking for an individual with excellent English linguistic skills. Someone experienced as an English proposal writer, and English proofreader, who works well in a team environment, and has at least 2-3 years of relevant experience.
Job Type:
- Full-time: Monday to Friday - 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM (times to be adjusted as needed)
- Training Period (approximately 3 months) - 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM (time to be adjusted as needed)
Job Location:
- Toronto, ON - Office is located at 421 Bloor Street East (across the street from Sherbourne subway station)
- Hybrid option may be available to work in-office three days per week and remotely two days per week
Responsibilities – RFP Writing
- Identify RFP opportunities from key sources (i.e. MERX), evaluate chances of winning, prepare responses, and track results;
- Research and identify reusable content (e.g. proposal boilerplates) that the proposal team can leverage;
- Collaborate with cross functional team members to gather pricing and other proposal components
- Provide guidance on proposal content and provide content editing support;
- Manage RFP timelines throughout all stages from draft to delivery;
- Ensures the structural requirements, mandatory and rated criteria of each RFP have been addressed;
- Deliver completed written proposal responses to the Proposal Manager against agreed RFP deadlines, escalating issues as required;
- Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of company products and services, competitive information and industry trends;
- Develop and maintain the Proposal Content Database to ensure the content is accurate and up to date; and
- Coordinate with subject matter experts regarding general content, and work instructions.
Responsibilities – English Proofreading
- Copy editing and proofreading of “into English” translations
- Grammar, spelling, punctuation and other mechanics of style, content, layout, etc.
- Basic Content Check of documents translated from English into a target language
- Ensuring consistency in details such as addresses, dates, names and content
- Flagging locations for artwork, page breaks, table of contents, cross references, etc.
- Manage tasks to meet multiple deadlines
Skills and Qualifications:
- Excellent English communication, writing, grammar, and spelling abilities; technical writing skills preferred.
- Detail oriented, personable, assertive, disciplined, self-motivated, reliable and high energy.
- High initiative and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to work independently and within established guidelines.
- Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
- Relevant undergraduate degree with 2-3 years editing and technical writing experience.
- Eligible for security clearance.
