As Workshop Manager you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the maintenance workshop, inspiring the team to drive engineering standards in providing safe, reliable, fit for purpose Ground Support Equipment (GSE) to Swissport’s ramp operations.
- Lead the team in providing daily maintenance operations to consistently high standards.
- Put safety at the forefront of all activities and lead by example.
- Management of all staff, including recruitment, training, coaching, absence, disciplinaries and professional development.
- Drive continuous improvement and quality control measures to fulfil service levels and optimise delivery against KPIs.
- Manage spares inventory and budgetary control which includes ordering of parts, oils and lubricants and consumables.
- Use of the Swissport Fleet Management System to create and complete work orders, raise purchase orders, capture cost and maintain accurate asset information.
- Effective resource and capacity planning to optimise workflow through the maintenance workshop.
- Ensure compliance with Swissport, airport and customer global and local standards and policies.
- Liaison with internal and external customers and suppliers.
- Assist technicians in problem diagnostics and answer technical questions pertaining to GSE and provide trouble-shooting and diagnostic assessment of GSE faults as required.
- Management of post-incident investigations, root cause analysis and remedial action plans.
- Ensure all maintenance documentation is completed consistent with airline, airport, CAA and Swissport requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all airport authority, CAA, airline and Swissport security requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:- Five or more years managing engineering maintenance operations, preferably in a workshop environment.
- Good working knowledge of the applicable health and safety regulations for maintenance operations.
- Good leadership skills, able to lead by personal example, to motivate and develop team members.
- Working knowledge of continuous improvement methods such as LEAN 5S/6S principles.
- Effective stakeholder management and the ability to build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong track record of delivering against SLAs and KPIs
- Knowledge of fleet asset maintenance programs, e.g. Maximo/IMS-Fleet Maintenance Pro.
- Strong analytical skills and an inquiring mindset.
- Confident and effective communicator (written and verbal).
- NVQ Level 5 Management or equivalent (desirable).
- Working knowledge of Ground Support Equipment, HGV, plant and forklifts (desirable).
- Experience working in a unionised workshop (desirable).
- Ability to travel when required.
- A full valid UK driving license.
