Cheshire West and Chester Council brings a fresh and energetic approach to providing top quality services for its many customers and communities. West Cheshire is a place where everyone can Thrive – through our core values of Teamwork, Honesty, Respect, Innovation, Value for Money and Empowerment.

Cheshire West and Chester Council declared a climate emergency in 2019. In response, the Council developed a Climate Emergency Response Plan with land use, climate repair and adaption as one of the themes. This theme was expanded into the Council’s Land Action Plan which focusses on nature based, green infrastructure, natural capital, and land use solutions to help mitigate and adapt to climate change.

We are looking for a ‘can do’ individual to enable the Council demonstrate leadership and commitment to the land action plan by creating woodland where it can on its own land, whilst continuing to influence partners, other institutions and landowners to do the same. The successful candidate will be part of the Council’s Climate Change team, work seamlessly with colleagues in the Total Environment team, liaise with other Council teams and support the Mersey Forest plan within Cheshire West.

Additionally, you are required to demonstrate a good understanding of current best practice in community and biodiversity-led forestry and have some understanding of the UK Forestry Standard.
