Job description
As part of the Warehouse Management team, you will successfully lead a team of Warehouse Operatives and Line Managers, ensuring a safety-first culture, colleague engagement and daily targets for their section are met.
Salary: £32,000
Duties and responsibilities
- Line management of a team of Operatives and Line Managers: attendance, training & development, performance etc.
- Setting daily targets for achievement across a designated section
- Planning and controlling daily / weekly labour requirements for assigned section / sections, ensuring sufficient capability to meet a fluctuating workload
- Identifying and reacting to potential problem areas within the section / sections
- Liaising with Senior Managers to ensure operational targets are identified, that regular measurement is taken against these targets and that remedial action is taken as appropriate
- Developing a highly motivated team by encouraging open communication and holding regular briefing sessions
- Ensuring all Health & Safety and Legal requirements are met and adhered to
- Liaising with other shifts and departments to ensure continued efficiency and better service levels as appropriate
- Working to challenging KPIs, working collaboratively across all sections
- KPI management of all operational tasks and coaching/investigations where required
- Conduct investigations and disciplinary meetings where required
- Understanding volume fluctuation and altering shift resource and headcount accordingly
- Ensuring quality & accuracy of goods picked to ensure minimal issues with customer orders
- The creation, ownership and delivery of continuous improvement of operational processes and practices within the operation
- Maintain compliance with the Company’s Health & Safety policies and procedures through the use of LGIR, WSOP, SOP’S, practices, and housekeeping
- Promote and support the provision of information and training to the warehouse team
- Investigate and document all accidents and incidents using reporting procedures and paperwork
- Actively develop the risk management process daily, by completing Safety Conversations, Near Miss’ and LGIR’s
- Ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained throughout the warehouse and yard areas
- Asset Management (MHE / Stillages / Poles etc)
- Develop a culture of continuous improvement and lean thinking through the use of employee engagement and voicing ideas
- Provide KPI / SLA reports to Senior Management team as required
- Ensure all stock is put away in a timely manner and any priority inbound is dealt with
- Ensure all core and agency colleagues are sufficiently trained
- Administration of team in all appropriate People systems
- To perform any other management function as required by the business
- A degree of flexibility outside core shift hours is required in order to attend meetings, working groups etc outside of the regular shift.
Experience, skills and attributes:
Essential:
- Previous experience of managing large teams within warehousing
- Excellent communication skills
- A clear leader, who leads by example and takes ownership of their performance and accountabilities
- Confident in the use of Google/Microsoft applications
- Experience in all aspects of health and safety within a warehouse environment
Desirable:
- Experience in Continuous Improvement
- Coaching skills
