Job description
We are a UK based EASA Parts 145, FAA Part 145 and TCCA Transport Canada approved repair station. Our facility offers full in-house testing, inspection, repair and overhaul of most light regional, commercial and corporate aircraft wheels, brakes, landing gear, freight locking system components, hydraulics, actuators, valves and accumulators. Also specialising in the repair, sale and purchase of components and materials for narrow and wide body jets.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated engineer to join an expanding team in a well-established Aerospace MRO.
Aircraft Wheel and Brake Technician
Reports to: Workshop Manager
Job Purpose
To support the company’s repair activities across the business. This is a key mechanical role to the business repairing and overhauling aircraft wheels and brakes to be released into service. All parts will be identified and controlled by querying the work orders and various computer systems at your disposal to determine work scope.
Job Requirements
- Read and understand work instructions, maintenance manuals and customer specification requirements.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of process operating procedures paperwork and parts control
- Understand and carry out inspection of component and structural aircraft wheel & brake parts
- Preassembly inspection and assembly of aircraft wheel hub
- Mounting of aircraft tyres
- Disassembly and cleaning of aircraft brake components
- Operation of steel shot blast machine
- Operations of media blast machine
- Pressure testing aircraft brake assemblies
- Know and understand risk assessments associated with task, including any Task Risk Assessment or CoSHH Assessment referenced in the work instruction.
- Work accurately and efficiently on individual assignments or as an active team member.
Skills & Qualifications
- English and Math GCSE or equivalent
- 3 or more years’ experience in a related field in a high production, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and technical publications to perform duties in compliance with customer requirements.
- General knowledge of precision measuring tools with skills and prior work experience in hydraulics or pneumatics, knowledgeable in an electronic environment.
- Computer literate
