Salary: £36,068.00 per year increasing to £38,068 per year upon completion of your probation period

Are you a universal credit expert? Can you help our tenants navigate their move to UC? Then we need you.
P A Housing is proud to put our customers first and that includes supporting them through times of financial hardship to help sustain tenancies.
You will work as a benefits expert in the Tenancy Sustainment Team helping our customers to sustain their homes through income maximisation. This means supporting them with the move to Universal Credit and helping with all aspects of making claims for UC and other benefits including supporting with the applications, reviews and appeals
You will work as an integral part of our income team, working jointly to reduce and prevent arrears.
You will also be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with external partners including local authorities and DWP.
This role can offer hybrid working, meaning you will be required to be in the office for around 2/3 days a week with the rest being from home, however we may need you to be in the office more within your probation, whilst you get up to speed.
Please note a DBS check (and driving licence) will be required for this role.
Some of the key tasks and responsibilities include:
Complete benefit checks and support customers with maximising income
Assist with claims up to and including representation at appeals
Work closely with Income team in cases of arrears and help the customer manage rent arrears with the use of income and expenditure assessments
Keep accurate case management records
Identify need and signpost to charitable support where applicable
Identify need and signpost to debt advice
Contribute to team targets for number of customer supported and benefits gained
To be successful in this role, we’d be looking for the following…
- Experience and up to date knowledge of the Welfare Benefits system, including legacy benefits and Universal Credit.
- Experience in a customer facing role
- Experience of working in a high pressure, customer-facing environment and achieving demanding performance targets
- Experience of helping clients with appropriate support to resolve budget related problems
- Experience of IT systems for record keeping and report writing
- Experience of building key relationships with internal and external partners
