Job description
We have a new opportunity within our company for a Welding Trainer to join our team based in Daventry.
You will have experience working in a production environment preferably in the automotive industry. We require someone with a an excellent eye for detail and understanding of quality.
Main responsibilities of the role are;
- Implementing training plans and personal development plans for all welders
- Delivering training to the welding team to include experienced and trainee welders
- Ensure that all welding staff have a full understanding of Health and Safety & environmental policies and requirements
- Mentoring and guiding on best practices, welding processes, and fabrication techniques
- Monitoring and assessing the progress of each employee against defined criteria, providing feedback to Shop floor Supervisor and HR with regards to any concerns
- Driving safety-first and maintaining shop floor standards.
- Conducting disciplinaries if necessary
- Contribute to risk assessments and conduct audits and spot checks to ensure correct use of Personal Protective Equipment and maintenance of equipment
- Working alongside HR to ensure that the training records, training matrix and risk assessment matrix are all up to date for the welding team
- Assisting in investigating incidents and accidents and introducing preventative measures
- When training is not required, use MIG and/or TIG welding equipment to manufacture production parts and assemblies to specification as defined by standard operating procedures.
- Responsible for signing off SOP’s
- Cover for 1st sign offs when required
- Supporting prototype parts into production
- To work safely in accordance with legislative and Company requirements for health and safety and environmental. This includes the reporting of near misses.
- To support new projects and changes to existing products by following instructions
- To be fully aware of quality requirements for any given part / product and to take responsibility for ensuring that sampling is carried out as defined by work order / standard operating procedure.
- To report any non-conformance detected immediately to supervision.
- Preparing and setup of necessary tools and equipment for welding jobs and maintaining a clean and orderly working area.
