Job description
Purpose of the Role:
As Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC) you will maintain and improve welding operations at our fabrication facilities in Dundee and Blyth as well as our onshore and offshore construction operations.
You will be the technical focal point for all welding within our business, leading welding process development projects and the upkeep of the company’s existing bank of weld procedures and welder qualifications.
You will prepare, analyse and review welding procedures and recommend improvement measures as well as researching and introducing new fabrication methods and processes.
You shall also oversee the maintenance and calibration records for all the welding equipment.
These tasks will require liaison with TEXO, client and supplier stakeholders, particularly for the selection and approval of existing procedures or the development of new welding procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- In general, the main role and responsibilities of the RWC will be as defined in BS EN ISO 14731: 2019
- Focal point for TEXO’s accreditations for fusion welding to European, ASME and ISO standards
- Main point of contact for all Welding audits carried out by our Clients & NOBO’s
- Ownership of existing Weld Procedures and the development of new Weld Procedures to improve current practice or to suit specific project/client requirements
- Maintain Welder qualifications and register including prolongation and revalidation
- Assessment and approval of contractor Welder Qualifications
- Allocation of WPS for projects prior to issuing to construction
- Provide recommendations for Quality / Productivity enhancements on welding processes and material types
- Maintain the current plant inventory of welding equipment and associated certification
- Monitor all welding projects in conjunction with the Welding Supervisors and welders
- Support estimating and project teams providing technical guidance for engineering, design, fabrication and welding activities
- Ownership and management of all post-welding data in-line with industry and client standards
- Oversee the daily audits on TEXO’s Weld Consumable storage facility
- Create and improve QMS processes and procedures in line with the above

Role Requirements
- Qualified as or hold equivalent extensive experience and knowledge of a European Welding Technologist or preferably a European Welding Engineer
- A member of The Welding institute (TWI), holding the appropriate level of valid certification (EWF, CSWIP & PCN)
- Up to date with the latest industry developments and welding techniques
- High level understanding of health and safety measures
- Ability to read drawings and technical documentation
- Strong leadership, organizational and administrative skills
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office
