Reporting to the Welcome Manager and operating within the Visitor Operations and Experiences department, you'll be driving visitor welcome at Belton. You'll be a self-starter who is confident to lead the site in the absence of a senior manager, with a great attitude to get stuck in. Working with our spirit of place and alongside the Visitor Welcome Team, you will grow our member support and link everything we do back to our cause.

What you'll be doing:As the Welcome and Service Assistant Manager, you’ll lead by example to create a warm, professional welcome to our visitors. You’ll encourage the team to seize every opportunity to engage with our supporters and grow our charitable income - from promoting membership and low level giving, to gift aid and direct debit schemes

You’ll share the stories of our conservation work while creating meaningful moments for new and existing supporters, and you’ll work with the Welcome Manager to lead your team to achieve key fundraising and membership targets.

You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day line management of the Welcome Team - incorporating fifteen Welcome Assistants, a Train Supervisor and a large team of dedicated volunteers. You’ll oversee team rotas and group bookings and support the Welcome Manager with risk management.

You’ll also be responsible for the day-to-day operations, team communications, and presentation of Belton’s welcome areas. You’ll inspire and support the Welcome Team to deliver outstanding service by placing visitors at the heart of decision making and apply your high level of competence to deliver service recovery. Belton is open to visitors 7 days a week - weekend and holiday working are expected as part of your role.


Who we're looking forWe'd love to hear from you, if this sounds like you:
  • Practical business experience in visitor business, tourist, heritage or relevant visitor services environment
  • Experience managing a team - able to demonstrate excellent organisational, leadership and change management skills
  • Naturally curious about people, with a proven record of delivering exceptional customer service
  • A resilient self-starter who works well under pressure
