What does your typical day look like?
Provide a timely and effective service to production on all webs and conveyors ensuring safety, quality and hygiene standards are met. To include all webs, endless and open-ended, conveyor maintenance on tracking systems, drives, rollers and associated conveyor parts such as predictors and guides.
Also carry out taper cassette repairs
What are the key ingredients needed for the role?
- Carry out planned web / conveyor repair / renewal.
- Attend and repair webbing breakdowns on all lines.
- Obtain prices for replacement stock and repairs.
- Carry out monthly web stock count.
- Carry out tracking system and roller PPM and repairs.
- Be proactive in preventing webbing / conveyor failures and improving overall equipment performance by generating and implementing ideas and modifications.
- Provide a service that meets food safety standards, whilst maintaining standards of housekeeping and personal hygiene
- Maintain and help improve health and safety standards and ensure that staff carry out work in a safe environment by eliminating, minimising, and controlling risks to themselves and others.
- Cooperate with contractors and as far as possible ensure their adherence to site rules, health and safety and food safety standards.
- Responsible for keeping all webs audit ready.
- Undertake training as required to further enhance individual’s skills and knowledge so that the level of support to the front-line operations remains effective and efficient.
- Provide advice and guidance to Operators on the utilisation/operation of webbing.
- Identify performance issues and implement appropriate and pragmatic solutions using problem-solving skills, tools and techniques, liaising with the Engineering Improvements Manager as appropriate.
- Maximise the use of the labour and skills available by being flexible in terms of work allocation and scheduling within the team.
- In consultation with the appropriate personnel, be able to correctly prioritise the workload for the overall benefit of the site performance.
- Must be able to work to agreed deadlines where necessary.
- Must be willing to work under the guidance of departmental and site KPI’s to maximise business performance.
Qualifications and Experience
- Level 2 NVQ – Performing Engineering Operations (or willingness to undertake).
- Good standard of education (numeracy and literacy) GCSE English & Maths (Grade A-C)/equivalent qualifications/equivalent experience.
- Food Hygiene Level 2 (or willingness to undertake).
- Experience of working in a food manufacturing environment.
- Experience as a Process Operator or experience in webbing/repairs/renewals/vulcanising (desirable).
- Experience using computers and associated software including Microsoft word, excel.
