POSITION TITLE: Website Developer
JOB STATUS: Full-Time (40 hours per week); non-exempt
PAY RANGE: $28 to $30 per hour

ABOUT THE MENTAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION OF SAN FRANCISCO (MHASF)

MHASF is a mental health peer-run nonprofit located in downtown San Francisco and has been serving people and agencies across the Bay Area since 1947. As mental health consumers, we center the lived expertise of people with mental health challenges in our advocacy, education, and support programs. We believe that dignity and recovery in mental health are something everyone can experience. Our staff is dedicated to creating spaces for learning and healing around stigmatized and under-resourced areas in mental health-hoarding and cluttering behavior; post-hospitalization peer support; mental health and nutrition; peer mental health workforce development; and much more.

OVERVIEW OF POSITION

MHASF seeks a driven Web Developer to join a mission-driven and growing organization. The Web Developer is responsible for developing and maintaining MHASF website content to motivate, inform, educate, and intrigue users so that they regularly access the site and use it for information and decision-making. They will seek out users to gather feedback and utilize Google Analytics and other data to inform improvements and enhancements. Maintains technical integrity of the website. Maintains and upgrades hardware and software. Communicates router configuration changes and troubleshoots system errors and bugs. Maintains servers and creates monitoring reports and logs. Monitors site for user accessibility. Establishes back-ups and monitors site security.

TOP 3 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Updates MHASF's websites to improve UX/UI, ensuring structure, content, and graphics are alignment with MHASF's communications, branding, and ADA guidelines.
  • With the Marketing Manager and CEO, develops and maintains guidelines and procedures on submitting requests to update website functionality, content, and third-party app integration.
  • Conduct website and social media analytics to identify trends in website traffic and social media engagement to inform MHASF's Marketing, Outreach, and Development teams in developing marketing strategies, SEO optimization, and content development.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • With the Marketing Manager, develops and implements an external and internal user support ticketing system for website issues.
  • Conducts continuous UX/UI improvement and development of MHASF websites to ensure it is up to date with common coding and technology standards.
  • Act as MHASF's cross-department liaison, supporting the IT team with web development adjacent projects that require using the same or similar programs.
  • Integrates approved third-party applications and back-end databases like Constant Contact with the websites.
  • Conducts compatibility, mobile, and A/B testing of the website and marketing campaigns.
  • Ensures that MHASF's website(s) are secure and compliant with applicable laws, regulatory standards, company policies, industry best practices, and/or branding guidelines.
  • Support the editing, writing, and designing website and social media content.
  • Support and collaborate with the MOD team in designing and developing marketing, outreach, and development campaigns.
  • Maintains MHASF's hosting, domain name registration accounts, and DNS records.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Commitment to upholding the mission and values of MHASF.
  • Familiarity with the recovery movement, peer support model, and Bay Area resources.
  • Bachelor's degree, certification in web development, related field, or relevant experience.
  • Proficient and preferably certified website coding language (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, etc.).
  • Proficiency in content management and databases: WordPress, MySQL.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to organize and present complex information clearly, accurately, and concisely.
  • Professional-level computer skills and experience working with modern online collaborative tools such as Office 365, SharePoint, Slack, Asana, and/or other web-based applications.
  • Ability to explain step-by-step processes, create useful documentation, and help others learn.
  • Demonstrated ability to move projects forward, organize information, and support staff for successful and timely completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and coordinate work involving various tasks, projects, and teams.
  • Take the initiative and work independently and collaboratively in following through on assignments.
  • To gather and/or prepare background materials; to work and deal effectively with people of diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Work under the pressure of deadlines and competing demands; acquire and maintain knowledge of and appropriately apply various policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience with maintaining high confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations and compliance.
  • Experience with Paycom and other HR Management software is a plus.
