Job description
Working as part of a small team over a seven day period, providing a waste service to UHDB to ensure that our clinical and non-clinical services can operate efficiently and effectively.
To work as a member of the Waste Team to carry out a comprehensive range of waste and resources tasks.
- Ensure the delivery of a high quality service
- Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of the waste compound
- To attend all mandatory training
- Assist in the induction of new employees
- Daily monitoring of activity
- Ensure all documentation is completed correctly
- Assist in monitoring, reviewing and developing service delivery
- Collect and process specific waste and resources that have been-segregated for waste disposal
- Operate specialist machinery safely and conduct safety and quality checks
- Assist in resolving service failures; check all equipment before use, referring problems and taking defective equipment out of use
- Ensure waste and recourse streams are segregated, transported and disposed of compliantly
- Ensure all waste carts are stored safely, locked and washed
- Oversee collection of waste by pre-approved contractors
- Deliver and replenish supplies of waste awareness materials
- Drive trust vehicles around the Trust sites to deliver services
- Assist in the implementation of infection control measures
- Work co-operatively as part of the team and perform additional duties when directed
- Deliver good principles of customer care ensuring helpfulness, awareness and compassion to patients, visitors, staff and colleagues
- Form part of the rota commitment and carry out relevant duties
- Assist in conducting ad-hoc audits
