Job description
Waste Transport Manager: required for busy waste collections department including Skips, Roll on-Roll off (Hooks) and Artics.
The role will be working Monday - Friday, is a full-time permanent position with a view to commence as soon as possible.
Reporting to Head of Waste: day to day duties will include the following;
- Responsible for all operational requirements of service delivery to clients including internal movements to third parties
- Day to Day Fleet Management of up to 40 Waste Vehicles and drivers
- Management of a team of routers and coordinators
- Day to Day compliance management of drivers and vehicles,
- Overseeing and managing Driver’s holidays for the department, ensuring adequate cover is always maintained.
- Driver and Agency Recruitment
- Managing vehicle downtime & scheduled repairs, ensuring the fleet is always running efficiently and as required to meet work demands.
- Recording hours for weekly paid staff
- Visiting various locations to keep in touch with remote drivers
- Working with inhouse garage to ensure servicing and defects are all carried out as and when required
- Responsible for Health and Safety
- Targeted and jointly responsible for Profit & Loss in the department
- CPC holder would be desirable
This is an extremely busy role which will require you to work well under pressure. You will be a natural leader with excellent communication skills, the ability to converse with a vast customer base as well as fellow colleagues.
Applicants must be computer literate, confident speaking on the telephone. Experience of working within a transport planning role is essential and able to demonstrate past history of people management.
