Job description

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

The purpose of the role will be to assess all wastes for identification, classification and labelling for both Hazardous / non-Hazardous waste and soils in order to comply with WM3 regulations and ensure compliance at all times.

RELATIONSHIPS:

a) Responsible to: Waste Manager

b) Responsible for: None

c) Liaison with: Directors, Managers, Employees, Customers,

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Testing soil samples using rapid testing equipment
  • Sampling soils and preparing them for testing at external laboratories
  • To produce sampling plans for customers
  • Sampling waste soils & collecting samples from SRC sites & customer sites
  • Classify waste soils correctly using WM3
  • Keep accurate records of testing
  • To keep the lab clean and tidy
  • To assist the waste manager to ensure that the company complies with our environmental permits
  • Ensure waste acceptance procedures are compliant.
  • Handle incoming telephone calls from clients and potential clients, including technical queries.
  • Ensure that weekly and monthly reports and other management information is produced accurately and timely.
  • Always represent the company in a professional manner
  • To comply with Factory Production Control Manual in support of the Company’s Quality Objectives
  • To act in accordance with the Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and practices highlighting any issues appropriately.
  • To perform duties as directed by Manager.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • A proven track record in a technical function, although full training will be given to the successful applicant to develop your skills.
  • Experience in the Waste Industry and WM3
  • Good telephone manner
  • Flexibility to undertake a wide variety of administration tasks.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy and communication skills.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel between sites.
  • You will be highly organised paying attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work individually under your own initiative.
  • Excellent general office administration skills
  • Full driving licence will be required due to site visits
