Job Overview

Main Duties

Daily tasks
Ensure all bins are emptied as per daily collection – follow collection vehicle around site, unless skip exchange is occurring
To carry out daily inspections and routine audits of all sites' waste receptacles, including the removal of contamination and overspill to ensure clean recycling streams and compounds.
Daily check of all compounds and clearing of all waste (HSV once per week)
Collection of cardboard from across the site, and baling of cardboard
Operate the polystyrene baler
Undertake works orders as allocated
Assist subcontract with Confidential waste and WEEE waste collection
To lock the main compound at 2pm daily to ensure the baler is secure and that the University maintains it ‘Duty of Care' requirements.
To lock the Veolia van inside the main waste compound that the end of each shift.
To regularly audit bins on across all sites, and to arrange for any defected bin to be replaced
Responsibilities
To call driver before/on arrival to site
To ensure all daily collection occur on time as contracted All collection complete before 8.00am*
To oversee all skip exchanges
To book skip collections/exchanges and understand location and access requirements
Liaise and act as point of contact for all subcontractors when onsite for collations or deliveries
To audit and maintain a good working bin stock at Singleton and HSV
To ensure the security of the main waste compound
To report issues to the Waste and Recycling Officer
To only carry out allocated works orders
Ensure the Sustainability store is locked after each visit
To attend a weekly meeting with the Waste and Recycling Officer - waste Supervisor
To attend a monthly meeting with campus services - waste Supervisor and Account Manager
What we are looking for
