Responsibilities:
As a Warehouse Picker/Packer, you will be responsible for the following duties:
Picking Orders: The primary responsibility of a picker is to accurately select items from the warehouse shelves according to the customer's order. A picker must also be able to recognize different products and identify them by their labels, and descriptions. You will be responsible for selecting the correct quantities of each item, double-checking the accuracy of the selection, and placing the items in a designated area for packing.
Packing Orders: The packing process involves placing the selected items into a box or other container, ensuring that they are properly protected and labeled. A packer must be able to follow packing instructions, which may include specific packing materials or instructions for how to pack fragile items. You will also need to be able to work quickly, as the packing process is typically the last step before the shipment leaves the warehouse.
Labeling and Shipping Orders: After packing, the next step is to label and ship the order. This involves applying shipping labels, completing paperwork, and loading the shipment onto a shipping carrier, such as a truck or plane. You will need to be familiar with the different types of shipping labels and carriers, and be able to handle the shipment with care to ensure that it arrives at the customer's location on time and in good condition.
Maintaining a Clean and Organized Work Area: Warehouse pickers and packers must maintain a clean and organized work area. This includes keeping shelves and storage areas clean and organized, as well as keeping packing and shipping supplies stocked and organized. You will also be responsible for sweeping floors and disposing of any debris, as well as cleaning up spills and messes as needed.
Following Safety Procedures and Guidelines: Warehouse work can be hazardous if proper safety procedures and guidelines are not followed. As a picker/packer, you will be responsible for following all safety procedures and guidelines, such as wearing personal protective equipment, using safe lifting techniques, and reporting any accidents or injuries immediately.
Communicating Effectively with Team Members and Supervisors: Warehouse pickers and packers must communicate effectively with their team members and supervisors. This includes providing updates on order status, communicating any issues or concerns, and following instructions as directed. You will need to be able to work well with others and be able to communicate effectively in person, by phone, or by email.
Assisting with Inventory Management: In addition to picking and packing orders, warehouse pickers and packers may also be responsible for assisting with inventory management. This can include receiving new inventory, stocking shelves, and performing cycle counts. You will need to be able to accurately record inventory levels, identify any discrepancies, and report any issues to your supervisor.
