Warehouse Operative
Novia Limited is the UK’s leading supplier of Building Papers and markets an extensive range of construction Breather Membranes and Vapour Control Layers. We service our UK and international customer base from our site in Sittingbourne, Kent.
Novia Limited has an exciting opportunity to join the team, primarily as a Warehouse Operative, but with the capability to assist in all areas of the business. The successful candidate must have previous warehouse experience and be certified to use a counter-balance fork truck. The successful candidate should be able to work on their own initiative in a smaller company environment and maintain a very high attention to detail whilst carrying out daily tasks.
The successful candidate must be both numerate and literate. Previous use of basic IT software, such as Microsoft Office (Word) is required. Duties will include loading and unloading of lorries, stock handling and rotation, picking & packing of small parcels and preparation of pallets for UK and international shipment. Other duties associated with this role include assisting the Sales & Marketing team with preparation of samples and sample packs, general warehouse upkeep and site maintenance.
Novia Limited has a small, but growing team and candidates must be comfortable operating within this environment. Applications are invited from candidates fitting the above profile. This role is a 37.25-hour week, Monday to Thursday 8.15am - 4.45pm and Friday's 8.15am - 4pm (no shifts or weekends required). JOB TITLE: Warehouse Operative
SALARY: £24k-£30k depending on experience, plus pension contributions & other benefits.
PURPOSE: The Warehouse Operative’s main responsibilities will be for quality control of both incoming and outgoing deliveries, including quality control, and also stock monitoring and stock rotation. As a warehouse operative you will be working both alone and as part of the wider team with efficiency and commitment to complete your work and strive to contribute fully to the business’ overall performance. This role best suits upbeat and self-motivated individuals who enjoy working systematically and productively. The role will involve a substantial amount of manual handling including bending, stretching, stooping, stepping, reaching, and lifting as part of picking and packing orders ready for dispatch.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Competent driver of counter-balance forklift (with initial refresher training provided)
- Receive deliveries of goods into the warehouse, checking for any quality control issues, such as damaged or missing items.
- Process day-to-day outgoing deliveries in a timely manner (picking & packing)
- Loading parcels and / or pallets onto relevant network vehicles
- Ensure all relevant paperwork, for both incoming and outgoing deliveries, are completed and circulated.
- Complete regular stock take
- Organise the delivery of product samples as directed by the sales team
- After training, the successful candidate will need to have a developed a reasonable understanding of Novia product portfolio.
- Maintain clean and clear warehouse and work space
- Ensure compliance to all health and safety, welfare and training requirements.
- Assist with the Company’s objectives/projects and take personal ownership for the delivery of objectives set within the department.
- To demonstrate high levels of integrity and honesty at all times, establishing a culture of both personal and organisational trust.
- Assist as necessary with other duties as directed. For example, assist with preparation of samples and sample literature, general site maintenance and / or site improvements etc

Qualifications & Experience
It is essential that the successful candidate should:
- Be fully qualified to operate a counter-balance forklift (refresher training will be provided);
- Be fully proficient with Microsoft Office software.

- Have previous work experience of working in a warehouse / storage environment, and willing to work as part of a small and friendly team
