Warehouse Operative

As part of our continued investment in the future, we're now recruiting for an experienced warehouse operative to join our team at our Dalton / Thirsk manufacturing site.
The Role:
Reporting to the Warehouse Manager and working alongside our site and warehousing team, you will assist with the efficient control and organisation of the company’s warehouse inventory.
This key role is essential to ensuring that inbound and outbound deliveries are effectively coordinated.
This is both a practical and an administrative role, and you will be required to liaise with the site team, and the wider team across the business in order to ensure that orders are dispatched on time & in full, in doing so you will play a very important role in the performance of the business.
Warehouse Operative - Responsibilities may include but are not limited to…
· Effectively support a team of fellow warehouse operatives
· Effectively manage incoming deliveries of all raw materials (Excluding Bulk Powders), packaging & finished goods.
· Ensure that all incoming deliveries are checked, signed for and correctly stored in the appropriate location.
· Prepare customer orders for dispatch.
· Ensure the correct rotation of stock in line with batch number, date of production and life expectancy of the product.
· Ensure that consistently high standards of housekeeping are maintained throughout at all times.
· Maintain the safe operation of a forklift truck to load and unload haulers.
· Carry out daily inspections of all forklift trucks in line with current LOLER guidelines and report any defects to the safety team.
· Ensure that safe working practices are maintained in line with current health & safety regulations whilst liaising with senior managers to ensure accident & incident rates are actively reduced wherever possible.
· Maintain adequate warehouse stock levels & actively participate in scheduled stock checks.
Experience / Skills / Attributes
o Experience of operating in a medium/large manufacturing business
o Good understanding of warehouse processes and operating procedures
o Knowledge of Safety compliance applied to working situations.
o Ability to assess risk to avoid situations that may cause damage.
o Reasonable computer literacy and be able to communicate and record information effectively.
o Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask.
o Good communication skills when under pressure
o Counterbalance Forklift truck licence essential, Flexi Articulated forklift truck licence highly desirable.
o Minimum of 3 years warehousing experience
o Previous experience using bar-coding systems and handheld scanners desirable
o Good understanding of picking & inventory processes
o Good understanding of warehouse practices and up to date inventory control techniques
