The Role
Based in our Llanwern site, the warehouse operators ensure that their own and their team’s operations are conducted in a manner that fully complies with Tata Steel’s healthy and safety, quality and environmental policies.
Llanwern Works produces strip steel for UK and European markets through its pickle line and cold mill with galvanised coating also being applied through the site’s ZODIAC line.
Below is a summary of your key responsibilities in this role:
- Operate materials handling equipment in a safe and productive manner to deliver the required levels of customer service
- Work flexibly and as directed, according to skills, in order to meet the operational needs on the business
- Accurately record stock movement and usage, along with product identification, using business IT system(s) e.g. Stratix
- Recognise and identify the range of relevant business products used to service customer requirements
- Follow Felt Leadership and Behavioural Health and Safety standards in all activities
- Maintain required standards of ‘housekeeping’ within prescribed area of responsibility
- Support continuous improvement activities to optimise process efficiencies
The Candidate
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are excited to learn new skills. You’ll need to be adept at working in a team and good at communication.
Previous experience in the steel industry would be beneficial, especially any experience in blanking.
Experience working with overhead cranes, forklift trucks, shunting (HGV) and health and safety would also be beneficial but is not essential as training can be provided.
