Job description
Reporting to: Warehouse Manager/Warehouse Supervisors
- Loading and unloading goods
- Ensuring that all goods match the relevant paperwork
- Liaising with customers arriving in the warehouse and assisting with their enquiries
- Storing and rotating stock according to established procedures
- Liaising with the Procurement Coordinator regarding stock queries
- Ensure that all the merchandise is safely and securely packed and labelled for shipping
- Keeping the warehouse environment clean and tidy and maintaining equipment
- Follow workplace health and safety rules when handling goods
- Ensuring efficient operations by adhering to operational procedures, rules and schedules
- Always handling goods with care
- Working to deadlines and aiming to exceed targets set by supervisors and managers
- Any other reasonable duties at the request of Supervisors, Managers or Directors
Forklift Specific
- Manoeuvring forklift safely in busy industrial environments
- Safely stacking and unstacking large quantities of goods onto shelves or pallets
- Moving goods from storage areas to loads
- Ensuring that forklift driving areas are free from spills or obstructions
- Completion of daily forklift equipment checks
- Report any forklift defects to the Warehouse manager
- Using industrial plastic wraps and wooden pallets to safely stack and package goods for transport
- Person Specification
- Physical strength, fitness and dexterity (often have to lift heavy packages or work elevated heights)
- Excellent team working skills to effectively collaborate with members of the warehouse team
- Good interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fact-paced environment
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- Honesty and trustworthiness
- The ability to work effectively under limited supervision
- Organisational and record-keeping skills to coordinate large volumes of goods
Fork lift training is available for successful candidates
