The Role
Working in the Saracen Warehouse Facility and reporting to the Warehouse Manager your role will include, but is not limited to, the following tasks:
- To receive incoming goods to warehouse
- To check dates condition and quantity of incoming goods
- To maintain the warehouse product location system
- To mark pallets of product with dates of expiry
- To ensure stock is rotated properly
- To ensure damages in store are minimised
- To pick orders and mark pallets with customer and / or destination details
- To load delivery lorries with picked orders
- To ensure the warehouse is kept clean and tidy and that housekeeping records are maintained
- To report any defects in Forklift trucks, Pallet racking, buildings or other equipment
- To report any ingress of pests
- To take timely and effective action in the case of any stock that becomes infected with pests, and ensure that this product is removed from store and segregated
- To work with the stock controller to ensure that stock losses are minimised
- To work with the Distribution Manager to assist in meeting customer requirements
- To ensure that warehouse consumables such as Pallet stretch wrap, edge protection boards cleaning and housekeeping equipment are reordered in time
- To ensure that basic maintenance checks are made on forklift trucks
- To understand the company’s Health & Safety and Quality systems and work within them
Person Specification
- Forklift truck experience and current in-date licence required – at a minimum for counterbalance but ideally also reach truck
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Able to follow procedures and instructions and to work at a commercial speed
- Happy working as part of a team and with other areas of the business
- Confident to work on own tasks and take the initiative to solve problems
- Proactive, flexible and adaptable
- Literate and numerate
- Able to grasp basic warehouse skills of stock rotation, housekeeping, teamwork, minimum damages, safe working practices - full training and support will be given
Salary
Competitive salary which is negotiable depending on experience, plus benefits including company pension and life assurance, 22 days holiday (rising to 25 days) plus bank holidays.
Hours
- 40 hours per week Monday - Friday, 8 hours per day plus an unpaid hour for lunch
- Likely shift times 07:30 – 16:30
- Occasional evening/weekend paid overtime
