We have an exciting opportunity for a Warehouse Operative to join our team!


The rate of pay for this role is £12.59 per hour starting on 1st June 2023.


The shift pattern is 4 days per week - Monday to Thursday (40 hours per week) on rotating days and afternoons: 5AM till 3PM and 2PM till 12AM.

The purpose of the Warehouse Operative role

To work as part of a team, facilitating the movement of materials across site and contributing to the manufacturing and distribution of quality finished goods in a safe and efficient manner. Under the direction of the Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring the flow of materials within an assigned process, striving to achieve targets and meet Key Performance Indicators.


Key Responsibilities

Health and Safety

  • To contribute and work as part of a safety-first culture; adhering to all safe working practices, policies and procedures
  • Adhere to all regulations and standards surrounding company issue PPE
  • To offer a meaningful and positive attitude towards the departments aims and targets on Health and Safety standards; including hazard reporting and contributing to safety inspection tours

Technical/Quality

  • To ensure compliance to food safety and quality standards, supporting and displaying the right first-time approach
  • To promote and support an audit ready ethos and have a presentable working area at all times
  • Ensure any quality or food safety issues within any part of the Warehousing process are reported via the correct escalation procedure and to take immediate corrective action where required
  • To ensure that all relevant inspection checks are completed in a timely manner
  • To partake in GMP audits within the process area

People

  • To work in close partnership with fellow / wider departmental staff; specifically focusing upon developing working relationships which will assist with the sharing of knowledge and transfer of skills
  • To promote a working environment and culture that contributes to the work force meeting the demands of the business
  • To liaise and work alongside other key members of the department to assist and work towards achieving common goals

Warehousing

  • To be a skilled operator on a wide variety of warehouse machinery
  • To work towards and strive to achieve daily production targets on all aspects of performance
  • Under the direction of Area Leads ensure that inbound and outbound targets are achieved
  • To be responsible for the accurate collection of data; ensuring that information is logged with detail
  • To demonstrate a proactive approach to process improvements and work as part of a multidimensional team focused upon delivering the aims of the department
  • To be flexible in the approach to working across a wide variety of warehouse processes in order to meet the needs of the department

Continuous Improvement

  • To display a positive approach and engage within continuous improvement activities within the department
  • To contribute to tier accountability meetings by communicating reports on health and safety, productivity and cost within the warehouse.
  • To provide and share continuous improvement knowledge and departmental skills
  • To have a proactive approach to problem solving to help implementing cultural changes.


We are looking for candidates with

  • Working knowledge of a Warehouse and Operational environment.
  • Basic problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate characteristics of the Finlays values - Trusted, Sustainable and Innovative.
  • Forklift Truck Licence (Flexi/Counterbalance).
  • Basic understanding of quality awareness and checking.
  • Ability to understand basic instructions and work to SOP’s.
