Job Title: Warehouse Operations Manager
Location: Newport Pagnell
Scope of the Role:
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Warehouse Operations Manager to join our team in Newport Pagnell. Reporting directly to the Logistics and Distribution Manager, the role will focus on supporting our warehouse team. Responsibility for the day-to-day management of the DGUK - Newport Pagnell warehouses including effective inbound, storage and outbound OTIF (On time in full), cost centres controls, KPI’s and supplier management.
The role includes the pro-active development of both management team and shop floor colleagues and the ongoing Health & Safety and Facilities improvements, in conjunction with the UK HSE Manager and the onsite H&S & Facilities Manager.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
· Ensure the warehouse operates at peak efficiency, with customer satisfaction being the primary goal, by supervising, organising, and training warehouse employees and monitoring and managing operation goals.
· Ensure all completed orders are dispatched on time and shipped appropriately to ensure quality of goods during transportation.
· Monitor quality, quantity, delivery times, and transport costs.
· Maintain the warehouse operations systems involving product handling and storage requirements, equipment utilisation, inventory management, gate processes, and shipping requirements.
· Train and manage a warehouse team to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach short and long-term performance goals.
· Supervise daily activities of the warehouse, including inbound & outbound deliveries, quality assurance, inventory control, space management, logistics and floor productivity.
· Schedule and oversee warehouse team (including Temporary labour) to meet the demands of the fulfilment centre, working within agreed budgets.
· Manage the flow and quality of work to maximise efficiency and minimise overtime.
· Inspect equipment, tools, and machinery regularly, and highlight issues to Facilities Co-ordinator for corrective action.
· Meet regularly with warehouse leads to review, analyse, and develop actionable plans for productivity and loss prevention.
· Oversee management of hauliers to ensure expected service levels are maintained.
· Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice logistics vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
· Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify inefficiencies and cost optimisation opportunities.
· Ensure the integrity of inventory accuracy and manage stock movements, including weekly cycle counts and major stock-takes. Identify and resolve any inventory discrepancies and ensure inventory and system records are in agreement.
· Ensure metrics, reports, and process documentation is available and up to date.
· Oversee the effective utilisation of warehouse space as per the optimisation strategy.
· Provide external Audit assistance when required.
· Ensure all company procedures including absence, performance and holidays are managed and adhered to.
· Develop and monitor personal development plans (via PMS) for all direct and indirect reports, based on both organisational objectives and personal development requirements.
Key Skills and Attributes:
· Proven management experience within a fast-paced Distribution Centre.
· Proficient knowledge of warehouse procedure and policy.
· Proven people management skills with the ability to optimise team performance and development.
· Highly skilled communicator with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally and externally.
· Strong track record of day-to-day cost control and cost efficiencies versus agreed budget.
· Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with internal and external stakeholders.
· Proven problem solving and organisational skills.
· Self-motivated and flexible.
· Proficient in Warehouse Management Systems, Outlook & Excel.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £38,000.00-£43,000.00 per year
