About the role

As the Warehouse Operations Manager at our modern warehouse facility, the NDC, in Hull, you will maximise distribution performance and engagement by providing leadership, motivation, training and development to the workforce. You will control all aspects of service delivery within the physical operation ensuring that all functions achieve KPI's, providing a cost efficient, safe and effective service to customers.

This is an exciting opportunity for anyone that has proven experience of managing people within a warehouse environment.

Key responsibilities include:


  • Ensuring the site and shift activities comply with health and safety procedures and regulations

  • Leading, motivating, coaching and developing individual team members to meet and exceed departmental KPI's and operational plans

  • Proactively controlling and reducing costs through on-going planning, evaluation and continuous improvement of operational activities

  • Day to day management of teams (including regular appraisal one-to-one meetings, personal development discussions, management of sickness absence, disciplinary processes, employee relations management etc.)

  • Overseeing general housekeeping requirements of the warehouse, ensuring high standards of hygiene are maintained

  • Identifying issues, problems and opportunities, analyse cause and effect and provide pragmatic and practical short and long term solutions and provide a range of reports to the Senior Management Team to measure performance of the shift

  • Consulting with external agencies for staff resourcing requirements and conducting regular reviews focusing on their performance and fulfilment

  • Leading and supporting projects as required

  • Performing other duties as required by the General Manager including deputising where appropriate


About you

The ideal Warehouse Operations Manager will be/have:


  • Previous FMCG experience at a leadership and second line manager level

  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of continuous improvements

  • Logical, numerate and literate with sound commercial and business acumen

  • A degree in Logistics, supply chain or equivalent experience is desirable

  • Experience of leading projects

  • Demonstrable experience of employee engagement initiatives

  • Experience and knowledge of a range of analytical and problem-solving approaches with excellent IT skills
