Here, you'll have plenty of big responsibilities - from checking all incoming and outgoing stock and controlling stock rotation, to keeping on top of all the relevant paperwork. Aldi’s Operational Warehouse Managers contribute greatly to the outstanding success of our high performing distribution centres. At Aldi, we are looking for an exceptional Stock and Systems Warehouse Manager to continue to provide with the best availability for our network. Reporting to Bardon’s Warehouse Operations Director, the Stock and Systems Warehouse Manager will be responsible for managing teams to ensure efficient and smooth product flow through the automated system within the distribution centre. A Stock and Systems Warehouse Manager’s responsibility is about maximising efficiency, optimising productivity and engaging a high performing team. You’ll have direct reports of Section Leaders and indirect reports of Deputies, Selectors, Logistic Assistants and Apprentices. Under your guidance, the team will be focused and ready to tackle every challenge within their area of responsibility.
Location: Bardon - Prior to the opening of Bardon, the role will be based within National Supply Chain at Atherstone National Head Office
Key Responsibilities:
- Accountable for the optimal running and maintenance of the Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
- Manage budget expectations within the Stock and Systems remit.
- Ensuring the operation exceeds the required levels of stock availability and is delivering against agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPI), for example productivity
- Ensuring teams are maintaining optimum inventory levels and maximum fulfilment of orders
- Accountable for accurate stock control, stock investigations and stock loss prevention
- Contribution in optimising operational efficiency for the warehouse layout
- Drive a high-performance culture, enabling your team to outperform against the plan by swiftly dealing with performance issues
- Responsible for the training and development of all new and existing employees within their area of responsibility, conducting appraisals and providing leadership, mentoring and support
- Identification, development, and coordination of Continuous Improvement projects
- Making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of system upgrades
- Development, critique and the presentation of proposals and reports with supporting business cases.
- Reporting and communicating of status, performance, stock availability, both in manual and automated areas.
- Leading and maintaining communications between the relevant warehouse and automation teams
- Performing administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, managing policies, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services
- Controls the documentation with regards to the safe use of all manual handling equipment to comply with the safety and legal requirements
- Liaison and coordination with maintenance and cleaning teams to minimise impact on live operations.
- Responsible for recruitment/staffing levels
Key Deliverables:
- Allocating team resources, provide delivery timelines and manage priorities
- Ensuring all operational expectations are achieved and inbound/outbound deliveries are successful.
- Managing order discrepancies/issues
- Required KPIs are monitored and achieved
- Management tasks such as team structure, 1-2-1s, employee holiday management, disciplinaries etc.
Personal Attributes:
- Excellent problem-solving and leadership qualities
- Previous project, people and stakeholder management experience
- Computer literate including strong office skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams and Outlook.

- Planning and organisational skills
- Automation experience within a similar role
- Experience with Manhattan Warehouse Management System is beneficial
Skills & Qualifications:
Essential:
- GCSEs/A-Levels (or equivalent)
- Automated warehouse/similar environment
- Experience in Logistics / Supply Chain Management
- Computer literate including strong Office skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams and Outlook
- Comprehensive understanding of Supply Chain
- Automated warehouse operations experience
- Experience of stakeholder management at all levels
- Detail focused
- Excellent time management
- Experience in operating warehouse management and warehouse control systems
- Knowledge of Supply Chain systems
- Experience in material handling equipment
Desirable:
- Degree or equivalent
- Experience within a WMS / WCS environment
- Experience operating Manhattan WMS
- Technical expertise to manage quality and accuracy of data
- Experience in the opening of a new Distribution Centre
- Infrastructure Solutions Design
- Knowledge of Supply Chain systems (TMS/WMS/Portals/WCS/Oracle etc)
