- To co-ordinate and control an efficient and cost-effective department process.
- Utilise the Labour Management system to analyse and track department efficiencies and productivity to ensure individual and department targets are met.
- Provide feedback on performance to individuals on a daily, weekly and monthly basis including documented 121 reviews using LM as a basis.
- Develop and grow team members by focusing on individual development opportunities.
- Promote team engagement by supporting team members and adapting to others’ working styles as necessary.
- Set challenging goals and access the resources and/or support needed to support their accomplishment.
- Track performance vs budget, understand and communicate reasons for variances.
- Work with your team to make recommendations for Lean improvements, benchmark, trial and implement, using lean methodology to maximise efficiencies and cost -effectiveness.
- Ensure processes are fully documented as SOP’s, communicated, understood and followed by all team members.
- Ensure team holidays and sickness are managed in line with company policy.
- Ensure the upkeep of all necessary data within the relevant business systems to support the Department process.
- Drive department communication to a high standard utilising Team Briefs and Handovers to provide seamless transitions between shifts.
- Build and maintain excellent working relationships with all key contacts with a focus on strong communication and collaboration.
- Ensure that the Shift Manager is kept informed at all times and that all significant issues are communicated to relevant parties in a timely manner.
- Confident in use of Microsoft applications, especially Excel and the ability to analyse and interpret data and prepare reports.
- Experience in the use of business systems, such as SAP, WCS and Manhattan desirable.
- Experience of people development, management and building a successful team.
- Strong interpersonal skills – ability to negotiate and influence many types of people.
- Strong process focus – both in terms of ensuring processes are followed and in driving process change. (knowledge of lean methodology an advantage.)
- Committed to achieving tight deadlines.
- Previous management experience
- Can demonstrate experience in delivering to tight deadlines and managing customers’ expectations.
