Warehouse Assistant, Job Description
Background:
Churchill Gowns is a fast growing start-up that rents and sells graduation gowns to UK university students. Unlike with traditional gown suppliers, our customers rent or purchase their gowns online and then these are sent to their homes ahead of their graduation day. Graduation is a very special day and therefore we pride ourselves on giving students an excellent service from the moment they place their order, through to delivery and returns. We even have a coveted five star rating on Trustpilot. We are a small team who work closely together to ensure we deliver a great experience for our customers and each summer we hire a crack team of seasonal staff to help us with the busy graduation season! As our three month warehouse assistant you will be trained up to support the warehouse manager in all aspects of our logistics. The role would be well suited to anyone looking for a short-term summer job and/or looking to gain experience working in a fast-paced start-up environment.
Key Responsibilities:
You will report directly into the Warehouse Manager and your key responsibilities will be helping with:
- Printing and sorting order slips at the beginning of each day;
- Applying the correct postage to orders;
- Picking and packing orders;
- Liaising with the customer service agents to resolve customer issues;
- Sorting hire stock when it is returned by customers or the dry cleaners;
- Liaising with dry cleaners, postal service etc. to ensure an adequate number of pick-ups and deliveries;
- Ensuring the warehouse shelves are well stocked, including collecting back-up stock from our nearby overflow storage unit.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Attention to detail - we have a large number of products that are highly specific to different universities and courses so attention to detail when packing orders is key!
- Motivated to go the extra mile to give our customers a great service;
- Ability to work efficiently and meet targets to get through a large numbers of orders in the summer;
- Works well when operating as part of a team and has good communication skills;
- Takes initiative to solve problems for colleagues and customers;
- Good at following verbal and written instructions;
- Basic IT skills;
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Experience working in a warehouse environment and picking and packing orders;
- Understanding of graduation gowns or experience of attending a graduation;
- Experience working for an online retailer / e-commerce company.
Employment Type:
3 month fixed term contract (mid May to mid/late August 2022) - exact start / end date is negotiable
Hours:
9:00am - 6:00pm with one hour unpaid for lunch/breaks
Pay:
London Living Wage (£11.95 per hour)
Overtime:
Overtime may be available and will be paid at the standard rate of pay
