We are looking to appoint a dynamic leader for Ward A4 at Peterborough City Hospital. Our appointed Ward Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust provides high quality patient focused care within the Department.

A4 is Peterborough City Hospitals specialist ward in the provision of colorectal and vascular surgery. A4 is fast paced and dynamic providing acute surgical interventions to patients whilst supporting holistically in patients recovery.
Dynamic and responsive, A4 in June will celebrate the first anniversary of the opening of its Intermediate Surgical Care Unit (ISCU). ISCU provides a clinical environment within the ward where the provision of enhanced care as an optimal pathway for patients with monitoring, treatment or care needs is provided. Enhanced care is achieved through enhanced nursing ratios, speciality MDT and close 24 hour a day surgical support, actively supporting reduced last minute cancellations of elective or emergency surgery.
The post holder will have overall continuing clinical responsibility for managing the department area which includes its’ finances, the deployment, education, delegation and supervision of all grades of staff and ensuring high standards of patient care and safety, within the resources available is delivered.
The post holder will be a key member of the multidisciplinary team ensuring appropriate referral and discussion with other members of the team to optimise patient care.
The post holder, working closely with Matron, will support the provision and monitoring of quality surgical care through the collation of audits with a quality focus, having a good knowledge of DATIX, risk assessments, auditing and collation and presentation of data for internal inspections and in line with Care Quality Commission (CQC) expectations and standards.

- Manage and lead the ward areas nursing staff in liaison with deputies.
- Lead by example to motivate, develop and establish a well-trained, competent workforce to deliver safe and effective care to all patients within the ward / department.
- Coordinate nursing and multi professional activity within the clinical setting, ensuring that there is appropriate skill mix for the patient caseload within available resources.
