Job description
As a full time Ward Clerk you will be front of house for the ward and will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors to the ward.
You should be friendly and approachable and eager to be part of a small team.
You will work independently under the supervision of the nurse in charge to ensure a smooth and efficient service on the ward.

You will answer telephone calls and take messages and be aware of patient confidentiality and Data Protection.
You will make appointments using the E Record system and will be able to retrieve patient information using this system and have good IT skills.
You will be responsible for ordering some ward supplies using the Oracle system.
You will manage the Dermatology in-patient and day case waiting list and plan direct admissions onto the ward.
You will be able to make ambulance bookings using the NEAS online system.
You will have an understanding of Trust policies and procedures.

- To provide and maintain efficient and effective administrative support to the Ward Sister/ Charge Nurse and multidisciplinary team.
- Contribute to the delivery of a consistently high standard of patient care as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
- Ensures case notes, investigations, X-rays and results are available for new admissions, ward rounds and multi-disciplinary team meetings.
- To ensure that case notes are correctly maintained following departmental guidelines and compliance with legislation (Caldicott Guidelines etc).Ensuring PAS system is up to date and accurate.
