SOS - Silence of Suicide
Full Time Remote 10.56 - 12.04 GBP Today
Job description

UNPAID VOLUNTEERS - From 4 hours per week (minimum) to 8 hours per week (max) - Telephone Helpline Support

SOS Silence of Suicide is a mental wellbeing and suicide awareness charity based in Warwickshire. In 2015, we began following the loss to suicide of one of the founder's daughters and became a charity in 2017.

We are looking for confident, compassionate and caring individuals to help respond to calls from vulnerable children, young people and adults.

Ideally, you'll have a customer service, sales or marketing background with the ability to talk to anyone and initiate and maintain conversations, especially when difficult and challenging topics may be discussed. Your main skill will be your ability to listen, carefully, and respond appropriately. It you have experience of working in a mental wellbeing arena previously, so much the better, but this is not essential.

You will receive excellent, in depth training so that you're equipped and confident, support during, after and between your shifts and weekly wellbeing checks. We also have monthly volunteer meetings for you to meet your peers and chat about the role, and any difficulties you may have, with others.

If you want to volunteer, this is an excellent opportunity to enhance and build upon existing skillsets or learn and develop others.

Please think carefully before applying - volunteering with us can be demanding, emotionally draining and challenging - it is also extremely rewarding, knowing you've helped people feel better or even helped to save a life.

You'll need to be able to volunteer 4 hours each week (in one block) as a minimum. If you cannot commit to this, please do not apply, thank you.

You'll also be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check prior to engagement with any of our callers, online attendees or in person meetings.

We are a small charity with a real family atmosphere, who are expanding our services throughout 2023 and beyond and you will be joining at a time of real excitement.

If you think this role is for you then please get in touch

We look forward to hearing from you
