Job description

The role:

In this voluntary role, you will be assisting Oxfam’s festival shop warehouse operation - helping them prepare for their busy summer festival season.

You will be:

· Weighing, recording and safely storing stock ready to be loaded onto wagons to transport to festivals and events.

· Organising equipment ready for use at a range of events.

· Fixing props and equipment that has been damaged at events, so they are safe to use again.

Required skills and attributes:

All volunteers will be given full training, but some of the following is desired for the role

· Be creative and methodical.

· Have strong communication skills.

· Be focused on health and safety.

This role can offer you:

· The chance to become part of a passionate and experienced team that will support you in using your skills and creativity to improve our warehouse operation.

· Gain skills and experience in logistics specifically around events and festivals, perfect if you’re looking to expand your CV.

· After 3 months of volunteering we will be able to provide you with a reference, you will also be given the opportunity to volunteer at some of the UKs biggest festivals with our festival shop.

· You won’t be out of pocket; we will pay your travel and lunch expenses.

Practical Considerations:

· We're located in a large, partly industrial, warehouse and closed toe shoes must always be worn. (Steel toe cap boots can be provided for warehouse assistants, but if you already have them then its ideal if you wear these)

· Because this role is based in a warehouse environment, it is not suitable for anyone under 18 to volunteer.

· We're a 15-minute walk from Batley railway station.

· Free parking is available at the front of the building.

Location:
Oxfam Wastesaver, Mill Forest Way, Grange Rd, Batley, WF17 6RA.

Opening Hours:

10am – 4pm Monday to Friday.

Duration:

We’re flexible; volunteer from as little as a few hours a week.

About us:

The Oxfam Festival Shop is a touring pop-up shop. We are based at Wastesaver, Oxfam’s textile recycling center, with all kinds of gems at our fingertips.

When we are not at festivals and events, we are listing on our festival themed online shops on ASOS MP and Depop, raising thousands of pounds to contribute to Oxfam’s global work to eradicate poverty.
