Job description

Cancer Education UK is a registered charity based in the UK, whereby we focus on raising awareness about cancer within the Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and Refugees (BAMER) communities and low socio-economic communities by holding teaching sessions around the different boroughs of London. In these sessions, we teach people from BAMER communities about signs and symptoms of cancer, encourage them to attend screening programmes under the NHS such as cervical screening which has low attendances from these group of people, offer free support to attend screening appointments, allow them to ask any questions, we encourage people from these background to talk about cancer more confidently and de-stigmatizes cancer being contagious or a death sentence.

We provide any form of support for people from these backgrounds who are going through cancer treatments either by helping with attending appointments like chemotherapy or radiotherapy, assistance with grocery shopping and many more. We currently provide free physiotherapy for all our patients. We also help women who have had one breast or both breasts removed by helping them feel more confident and help re-integrate them back into the community and workplace.

Role responsibilities

We are looking for Social Media Managers to help manage and develop content for our channels, our social media channels is developing rapidly over the years. Your role will be to help deliver a strategic plan led by the Head of Social Media team that delivers reach and engagement to our audience. The Social Media Team sits within this and oversees all social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram. You will also connect outside of the Communications Team, supporting key events such as our awareness and outreach programs.

Your Responsibilities:

This role will require anywhere between 5-15 hours per month, with slightly more in the month leading up to our outreach program.

Your responsibilities will include:

· Creating content including video, images, gifs and copy across our channels

· Acting as brand guardians, learning and building on our tone of voice

· Being aware of potential crises and issues and overseeing our social listening tools

· Integrating across teams to deliver content that will support different strategic objectives

· Helping to deliver a response protocol system for queries

Who you are:

Ideally you will have experience of developing content and community management from your day job and you wish to apply this in a voluntary capacity to help others.
