Job description
With this role you’ll be working as part of the recovery support teams, based in Bromley
The team supports people who need support with drug & alcohol problems.
In this role you will be supporting the people who use our services by offering them one-to-one support in the community. Working alongside the team within recovery based groups both online and face to face, re-engagement and check-in and chat, 1:1 mentoring, and promoting service user involvement.
Our Peer Mentors/Volunteers will have lived experience of substance misuse themselves which will mean they have a unique skill set to understand and help engage and support individuals, empowering and assisting them to access services. Recognising this, the role of Peer Mentor/Volunteer is designed to be strengths based, evolving with you as your experience and confidence grows.
Part of your role through lived experienced would be to engage with people who use our services and build positive and trusting professional relationships. Helping people to build self confidence to achieve their recovery goals and make positive changes. You may be the first point of contact for many who may be accessing services for the first time, being a listening ear and having a non-judgemental approach.
Helping people to take that next step can be a challenge, so in return for your time we will offer you comprehensive training and will ensure that you have someone at the other end of the phone for day-to-day advice and guidance. We will also make sure you have a named supervisor, who you will meet up with regularly.
By volunteering with us you will gain valuable experience and skills, as well as making a real difference.
This is what one of our Volunteer Mentors/people who use our service had to say (use quotes from your service): “I like the team spirit, that we all bring something different and we always put the people who use our service first”.
Or
“Seeing people move in their treatment journey and seeing a zest in life coming back in their lives is so rewarding”.
Or from a service user:
“ Me and my key worker get on really well and this benefits me, coming to Change Grow Live gives me stability”.
Our values are to be compassionate, open and bold. If this sounds like you we’d love to hear from you so click apply.
