Salary: $50,866.60 per year (Possible pay up to $55,953.26 upon completion of required training and
becoming eligible for mandatory overtime.)

JOB DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this position is to receive and evaluate in-coming police, fire, and/or EMS emergency and non-emergency calls, compile relevant information from callers, and initiate an incident in CAD to be dispatched or transfer the call to the appropriate agency. This position acts under the supervision of a Dispatch Supervisor.
· Receives and evaluates all in-coming calls to determine the urgency of the reported situation. Compiles incident location, participants and other relevant information and initiates incidents in CAD.
· Gathers information and prioritizes calls.
· Relays information clearly and concisely to callers and emergency dispatchers.
· Enters calls for service data, including type, location and incident response into CAD system.
· Monitors multiple telephone lines, including 911 lines.
· Maintains knowledge of emergency communication equipment operations, emergency communication procedures and techniques and county geography.
· May Assist with in house training of new call takers
· Maintains building security, including limited access to front doors after hours.
· Performs inquiries regarding wanted subjects, stolen property, and other information through the REJIS computer database and relays information to law enforcement personnel. Conducts criminal history, towed vehicle, exparte, and missing persons checks.
· Enters information into REJIS computer database.
· Copies information to be delivered to other divisions or departments.
· Receives fax transmissions and distributes messages to the proper individual.
· Utilizes resources such as REJIS, CAD, mobile data, and other online databases to collect pertinent information.
· Maintains warrant entry/removal file for municipal patrol.
· Receives messages regarding the status of work operations during non-work hours.
· Must be available to work rotating 12-hour shifts between day and nighttime hours including weekends and holidays.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Education
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Vocational/technical training in computer and multi-line telephone use.
· Job Experience
· Any other combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
· Must have knowledge of providing excellent customer service.

· Applicants selected for consideration (based on CritiCall testing, information provided via their applications, and any other information submitted) will continue the selection process and be required to complete the following components, which are all conducted on the same day (NOTE: format may be altered due to COVID-19 and social distancing requirements):
o Initial Interview
o Dispatch Floor Observation
o Secondary Interview
· Final candidate selection for a probationary position will be based on consideration of all components of the selection process (application, CritiCall, interview(s), etc.) collectively and not individually.
· Following the closing date for the acceptance of the applications, the selection process may take up to three months.
· Applicants who complete all elements of the selection process, but were not selected for the position, will remain on the Certification List of eligible candidates for 120 days, after which they must reapply for the position at the next job posting.
· Applicants not selected for an interview may reapply at the next job posting.
· Applicants who do not pass the CritiCall test may re-apply and re-test with the next job posting.
