What is the purpose of the role?
As Volunteer Finance Assistant you will work alongside the Treasurer fulfilling tasks on the agenda.
What do we specifically expect of this role?
Will support the Treasurer who sits on the Board of Hidayah. This role will have the following duties, but are not limited to:
To assist the Treasurer gathering financial information;- To assist Treasurer to ensure that we stick within expenditure levels;
- To deposit money into the bank;
- To assist Treasurer keep up to date with chasing invoices;
- To work with the Chair to give breakdowns of costings for fundraising bids and for events/activities;
- To seek out revenue opportunities within the limits of what Hidayah can do;
- To work with other Board Members to plan income generating activities.
How much commitment is required?
We are flexible around your own schedule. We do have regular catch ups with all volunteers to speak about workloads. We envisage this role taking a couple of hours a week depending how comfortable you are in the role and appreciate that it may take some people longer to fulfil tasks.
What do we expect from a Finance Assistant Volunteer?
Please note that you must agree with and fit the criteria below to be eligible to volunteer in this role:
Knowledge:
- Educated to degree level or experience which demonstrates equivalent analytical ability
- Knowledge of quality assurance systems and their benefits for the voluntary sector
- Knowledge of good governance procedures for the voluntary sector
Personality:
- Working and influencing at both a strategic and operational level ensuring excellent working relationships and a high standard of customer care.
- A self-starter who can volunteer with minimal supervision.
- Friendliness, enthusiasm, dedication, responsiveness, flexibility and eagerness in supporting the aims, vision and mission of Hidayah.
Personal Skills:
- Ability to understand confidentiality, equality and diversity and safeguarding procedures;
- Ability to respond to resolving conflict situations if needed;
- Someone who can behave with professionalism.
Administration Skills:
- To regularly check, maintain and keep up to date Hidayah administration and data handling systems such as using Google Drive to store information
- A high degree of literacy of Microsoft Office, Google Suite and IT Applications
- To be part of a communications text group (WhatsApp) to keep up to date with Hidayah developments and to inform the Board Members of any developments;
- To read new Hidayah policies and initiatives and to be aware of new Hidayah news;
- To read, understand and agree with the constitution of Hidayah (available on website).Additional:
- You must be 18+ and live in the UK
- You will ideally have some previous HR and/or recruitment experience
