Job description
Citizens Online are looking for volunteers who have patience, empathy and excellent communication skills. A good understanding of technology is important but you don't need to be an IT whizz.
We are partnered with Leighton-Linslade Town Council as part of their 55up project to help people aged over 55 tackle feelings of loneliness and isolation.
We are looking for volunteer Digital Champions who can spare a minimum of two hours a month in a variety of venues in Leighton Buzzard and Linslade. Please only apply for this role if you are serious about volunteering and live in or around the area.
Living during lockdown has demonstrated to everyone how important digital skills and technologies are to make our lives easier. But there are still so many adults in the UK who can’t use the internet. Helping others to get online and improve their digital skills can be very rewarding. You'll be helping people to learn skills such as:
* Being able to use a device such as a smartphone or tablet * Setting up emails * Searching the internet * Making video calls * Staying safe online
We'd also be really interested in volunteers who can help to increase resident engagement with taking up this free service.
In return you'll get:
* CPD accredited Digital Champion Essentials online training module (Digital Champions Network)
* Training: safeguarding, using our free helpline to make and record calls if supporting people remotely.
* Share and learn sessions to network with other Digital Champions and gain knowledge.
* Access to Digital Champion resources
We are an equal opportunities organisation and welcome applications from all suitably skilled and experienced people, regardless of their race, gender, physical ability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age.
