Job description
Volunteer Befriender Waltham Abbey
Are you compassionate and want to make a difference in your local community?
At Age Well East, we support individuals to become happier and healthier. A key element of this is providing friendship groups or volunteer friendships to people who are lonely and looking to be connected with other people.
The role of Volunteer Befriender is to provide one to one friendship through Telephone Befriending / Befriending Face to Face. We support individuals with a range of needs. Before you are introduced to your befriendee, we will talk to you about your passions and skills and where they are best suited. Additionally, we will provide you with any training you require to ensure you are confident and ready to befriend.
For this volunteer role, we are looking for an individual who has experience with or awareness of the friendship needs for a person living with caring roles, in later years.
The person who is lonely and in need of friendship also has a passion for Maeve Binchy books, loves to laugh, and spending time with their little dog.
Because we work with vulnerable adults, we will carry out DBS and reference checks and provide supportive onboarding training.
We have established an excellent reputation within our local community and our organisational values are: Community, Trust, Compassion, Courage, and Excellence. This is because we feel our volunteers and clients deserve the very best support.
If you share our values and mission to make people happier and healthier, then please apply to become a volunteer today.
This is a remote position.
