Title: Visitor Centre Assistant

Status: 12 Months, Fixed Term (ASAP START)

Hours: 1st March – 1st August: 35 hours per week

1st September – 31st October: 21 hours per week

1st November – 28th February: 14 hours per week (weekend and occasional evening work required)

Salary: £19,838 pro rata to suit

Location: Loch of the Lowes, Dunkeld

The Role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to provide a first class customer care service at our flagship Visitor Centre throughout our busy osprey breeding season.

Assisting in the day-to-day running of the centre’s reception and osprey/wildlife exhibition areas and you will focus on membership recruitment, sales and seasonal wildlife events.

Please apply if you have excellent communication skills, have worked in the retail/tourism/not-for-profit sector, and have an aptitude to enthuse others about nature conservation.

A current UK driving licence is desirable.

Main Objectives

  • Provide first class customer care and visitor services at this flagship visitor centre’s reception and exhibition area
  • Promote the work of the Scottish Wildlife Trust and raise the profile of the visitor centre by providing effective and innovative information including updating social media platforms
  • Assist with maximising sales and commercial return from the visitor centre, meeting membership recruitment targets, assisting with stock control and purchasing
  • Facilitate day-to-day duties of the visitor centre operations including interpretation of wildlife at window or at hides, opening and closing of visitor centre, maintaining standards and cleanliness/health and safety, daily cashing up and weekly banking
  • Assist with the planning and running of face-to-face and online events
  • Ability to deliver talks to the general public and booked groups
  • Assist with daily volunteer management
