Job description

As a Tynemouth Priory Visitor Assistant, you will join an amazing team of employees and volunteers, making sure visitors have a great time from the moment they arrive until they say goodbye. This is a varied role and some days will be busy from start to finish, whereas others may be quieter especially on the wetter days! No two days are the same.

Tynemouth Priory and Castle welcomes around 30,000 visitors a year, who come to explore the Priory ruins, Medieval gatehouse and historic coastal defences. With a small shop inside the gatehouse and large third party events, this role provides an opportunity for you to get experience in a range of different areas. We are especially keen to hear from you if you're interested in working at a smaller site where you'll have involvement in all areas of the operation, working with one or two colleagues to manage a range of daily tasks across the whole site.

Daily tasks include:

  • Welcoming visitors to the site and taking admissions
  • Promoting English Heritage membership

  • Ensuring the site is clean, tidy and safe
If you have any questions you would like to ask before you apply, please contact Linsey Saxon, Tynemouth Priory Manager, on [email protected]

We are looking for people who enjoy working with others as part of a team to deliver an engaging visitor experience to a diverse audience. Training and support will be provided as part of your induction to the role, but some paid or voluntary experience working with the public may be beneficial.
