The Associate Lecturer is responsible for delivery of subject specific module/unit for the purpose of delivering a syllabus and ILOs as prescribed by a Module/Unit specification. The post holders is an academic by nature who has the ultimate responsibility of the group of students who is undertaking a subject specific module/unit for the purpose of attaining credits towards an award and/or otherwise.
The post holder will be assigned to subject specific unit/modules and will be required to deliver these in accordance with the institution’s expectations.
The post holder will have the following responsibilities:
- Contribute to the production of module/unit specific Scheme of Work.
- Develop module materials for each of the module being undertaken.
- Provide/Deliver/Facilitate subject specific sessions in line with the ILOs and syllabuses of respective modules.
- Deploy assessments appropriately as set out by the assessment team.
- Set out measures to understand the learning needs of students on their modules and make recommendations to the ASOs and/or the (Deputy) Head of School on mechanisms to improve student academic experience.
- Enter attendance registers for each sessions as prescribed by the policies of RCL and work with the ASO to ratify the accuracy of the information being entered for students on digital registers.
- Ensure that students are actively engaging in their sessions and drive for 90+% submissions of assessments for all module/unit being delivered.
- Support students with timely formative feedback to the extent prescribed by each of the programme specifications.
- Mark and provide summative feedback within the prescribed deadline published by the Assessment Team.
- Follow the Marking process prescriptively including supporting the Assessment Team with instances of identifying and investigating academic misconducts and where possible, extenuating circumstances.
- Ensure that all expectations of the Programme Specification of respective awarding bodies under which modules are being taught are followed appropriately and/or prescriptively as directed by (D)HoS.
- Keep up-to-date in subject specific development and enabling such discussions by students in class.
- Produce appropriate module/unit reports.
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Salary: Up to £1,500.00 per month
